Curtis Alexander
signed at Harchester United from French side Paris St.Germain in July 2002
on a free transfer - just six months after the Dragons had originally
attempted to sign him.
This time, it
was the lure of once again teaming up with his former PSG manager Patrick
Doyle that tempted Alexander to sign for Harchester United.
In his first season with the Dragons, Alexander found scoring goals hard to
come by - something he'd found easy to do at PSG. It was often frustrating
for the striker but in the end, he came good in the Dragon's fight against
relegation.
At the
start of the 2003/04 season, Alexander was linked with a move for Sheffield
United following the signing of Luke Davenport.
However, he turned it down and eventually went on to have an eventful season
that not only saw he made captain by the end, but also player/caretaker
manager as the Dragons finished 4th in the league.
The Dragons were then relegated for
match fixing, but Alexander captain the side to success in the Championship
Play Off Final - he was tragically killed later that day in the coach
explosion.
