LUKE DAVENPORT
Name: Luke Davenport
Country: England
Position: Striker

Signed from: Barcelona in July 2003
Left for: Retired in April 2004

Luke Davenport signed for Harchester United in July 2003 for a club record £32million from Spanish side Barcelona.

Before signing for Harchester United, Davenport had previously played for Barcelona and before that, Manchester United. Whilst with the reds, he fell out with the England management whilst on International duty and went into international exile for almost 4 years.

Davenport stunned the football world by signing for the Dragons. He was expected to sign for a so-called "more glamourous club" such as AC Milan or Juventus.

On his debut against Leeds United, he scored a hat-trick and then went on to become the clubs top goal scorer for the season despite not playing in many of the matches through injury and retirement.

Davenport was also recalled to the England team during his spell with Harchester. He scored on his debut in a defeat by Denmark at Old Trafford - a goal set-up by fellow Dragon, Ryan Naysmith.

Shortly after that, Davenport missed alot of time out following a corneal transplant. Upon his return, he only played a small number of matches before his career was finished following the loss of sight in his left eye.
