Karl Fletcher made his debut for Harchester United in the final game of the season away to Leicester City in May 1992. He'd previously impressed Steve Tomkins with his display in the youth team.

Within a year, Fletcher was a first team regular and also a regular on the score-sheet. In May 1994, Fletcher enjoyed promotion with the Dragons as they secured their place in the Premiership for the first time.

Fletcher's great form didn't stop there as he continued the score goal after goal in his first season in the Premiership. This led to many offers from clubs such as Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers, but he opted to stay with the Dragons for another season.

The following year, Fletcher enjoyed another season of goal-scoring but it couldn't stop the Dragons from being relegated.

Rather than leave, he decided to stay with the club and score 35 goals in 1996/97 to win promotion once again. In 1997/98, Fletcher missed 3 months after shamefully testing positive for cocaine.

The following season, Fletcher was fully apart of the side that went on to win the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history. This created interest from many clubs including RCD Mallorca who he joined in July.

After a not so impressive spell with RCD Mallorca, and despite helping to knock the Dragons out of the UEFA Cup just 24 hours before, Karl Fletcher returned to the club in March 2000.

Once again, he turned out to be the saviour of the club by scoring some vital goals to help keep the club in the Premiership. However, he missed the final game after his jaw was broke during a fight.

The following year, Fletcher enjoyed a season that saw the Dragons finish 3rd in the Premiership. He was also made caretaker manager for a day - this move would cause all sorts of problems.

In December 2001, he was wrongly convicted of murdering former chairman Prashant Dattani, who had humiliated him in the way he was made manager for just one day.

Lynda Block eventually admitted to the crime and he was later freed. In May 2002, he was involved in the coach crash which left him with a broken arm and meant he missed the UEFA Cup Final.

In 2002/03, Fletcher was the leader and fighting spirit behind the team that kept them in the Premiership. The following summer, the club failed to offer him a new contract. He left on a free transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Habib.

The legend of Harchester United that is Karl Fletcher returned to the club on a free transfer from Spanish Segunda Liga side, Real Mercia in January 2005.

On his debut, Fletcher was instantly back enjoying hero status once again as he scored a late winner on his debut in the FA Cup 3rd Round against Premiership side Manchester City.

Fletcher went on the blow hot and cold both on and off the pitch for the remainder of the season. He'd have good form on the pitch, and then bad form. He'd have a good spell as caretaker boss, and then a bad spell which ultimately saw him sent off against Sheffield United.

In May 2005, Fletcher was told he'd be released at the end of the season - but before that could happen, he was killed in the explosion.
