Scott Lucas was a controversial figure with Liverpool in the late-90's and at such a young age, so it was decided by Gerard Houllier to sell the player and Harchester United bought him after finding themselves in desperate need of a striker following the departure of Karl Fletcher.
Lucas made his debut in the Charity Shield defeat by Man Utd.
Throughout his first season, Lucas struggled in the first half to find the back of the net and this was put down to his attitude of the pitch. Although he was a fans favourite, he was said to be not so popular with many of his team-mates.
In the second half of his first season, Lucas began finding the net - until Fletcher rejoined the club and then he lost his form once again.
The following season saw Lucas become more mature following the birth of his son and he went on to have a fantastic season. He was sold to Aston Villa before breaking his leg in a bizarre incident.
That deal broke down but Chelsea remained interested in the player and took the risk of signing him, despite not being fully recovered. Lucas played his first game for Chelsea in November 2001.
