HARCHESTER UNITED - 0 - 0 - LIVERPOOL

Harchester United's title defence got off to a blank start with a 0-0 draw at home to Liverpool this afternoon in the Barclays Premier League.

Jimmy Craig was happy to be boosted by starts for Diego Forlan, Dwight Yorke, Johnny Carlisle, Ryan Naysmith and the returning Darren Tyson. Miguel Lopez was once again mysteriously absent, Gavin Moody was injured and Jason Porter was on the bench.

Liverpool had the best chance of scoring in the first half through John Arne Riise. The Norweigan was set up by Dirk Kuyt on the edge of the Dragons box but he drilled wide.

In the second half, it was all the Champions. Liam Mackay came closest but failed to score. Last seasons hero Jason Porter came on for the last 10 minutes but failed to change the game as it ended in a 0-0 draw.
