WHITE HART PAIN ...
.....
.....
Harchester United have had their lead at the top of Premier League cut to just 2 points following a heavy 3-0 defeat inflicted by title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

The result puts an end to the Dragons hopes of furthering their 5-point lead at the top and brings to an end a run of 8 consecutive wins in all competitions.

United actually started the game the better of the two sides with Jay Marney almost giving the Dragons a 1-0 lead within the first 5 minutes, but his effort was calmly saved by Brad Friedel in the Spurs goal.

Spurs took the lead after a 15 minute period of pure domination in midfield on the 28 minute mark as Gareth Bale stole the ball from Ryan Naysmith on the lett hand side of the pitch to set up Emmanuel Adebayor.

The striker's shot was saved by Thomas Heikkinen in the Dragons goal but was only parried back into the path of Gareth Bale who scored to make it 1-0 to Spurs.

Another lack of concentration 2 minutes later let in Gareth Bale once again. This time he decided to cross the ball which was then met by the head of Dragons defender Johnny Carlisle who couldn't help put head the ball into the back of his own net to make it 2-0 to Spurs.

In the second half, Harchester United created very little in a massively disappointing display from the Premier League leaders. In fact, they were completely outplayed by Spurs throughout the contest.

The home side wrapped up their 3-0 win in the 57th minute when Gareth Bale once again stole from Ryan Naysmith, after jinking the ball past Anton Young in the Dragons defence, Bale set up Scott Parker who cooly slotted the ball past Heikkinen to make it 3-0 to Spurs.

Ryan Naysmith was instantly substituted and it's doubful that many were suprised by this change when youngster Marlon White came on the replace him.

Naysmith had played poorly throughout his 58 minute appearance and showed very little in terms of caring studying from his body language as he left the pitch. Is this the sign of a man who has played his last game for the club?

White's appearance strengthened up the wings for the remainder of the game in a bid to contain the Spurs attack - and it worked. But only from a defensive perspective as the Dragons attack still failed to create any more chances.

Final score - Spurs - 3... Dragons - 0!
