Following the
police charges brought against Miguel Lopez, Spanish champions Real Madrid
have called off their £30million bid for the Harchester United striker.
Lopez will face a crown court
hearing in October to decide what punishment he and team-mates Jason Porter,
Sean Campbell and Gavin Moody should face for failing to report information
to police regarding the death of casino owner Jonathan Franks.
Lopez could face a minimum of 3
months in jail and Real Madrid say they aren't prepared to pay so much with
such a risk hanging over him. They're now set to sign Javier Saviola
instead.
