 Fernando Fuentes signed for Harchester United from Ecuadorian side LDU Quito in the summer of 2009 for a fee of £3million.
Following several injuries to Alex O'Mare in the 2008/09 season, Dragons boss Erik Gentner made it be known that he was on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to stand in when needed.
At this time, Peruvian goalkeeper Fernando Fuentes had been part of the LDU Quito side that shocked South America by clinching the 2008 Copa Libertadores title against Fluminense in Brazil on a penalty shoot out victory - thanks to Fuentes' magnificent goalkeeping.
LDU Quito and Fuentes then went on to become runners up in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup Final, losing out to Manchester United - but his displays and his manner caught the eye of Harchester United's new manager.
In the summer of 2009, Fuentes signed for the club and instantly filled in for the injured O'Mare at the start of the season.
Fuentes would then rotate the position with O'Mare throughout the 2009/10 season and perfomed brilliantly when needed.
Harchester United then signed Thomas Heikkinen in the summer of 2010 which left Fuentes chances of first team football few and far between.
Fuentes is happy with his role as second choice keeper though and, when required, always fills in with full professionalism and reliablity.
