Jay Marney signed for Harchester United in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £17million from Sunderland.
The striker began his career at Sunderland in 2006, but first team chances were limited and he was loaned out to Sheffield United for the entire 2007/08 season.
It was during this season in the Championship in which he scored 34 goals and there was no way that then-Sunderland boss Roy Keane could ignore Marney anymore.
Despite Sunderland's poor results throughout the 2008/09 season, Marney was vital in playing his part in keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League scoring 17 goals in the campaign.
Under new-boss Steve Bruce, Marney was given his chance and struck up a fantastic partnership alongside Darren Bent.
In the 2009/10 season, Marney scored 22 goals whilst partnering Darren Bent for the majority of the season. He was also called up to the England squad, making a substitiute appearance in a pre-World Qualifier against Japan. He failed to make the final 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup though.
This didn't stop the offers flying in for the talented 23 year old and it was Harchester United's huge offer of £17million that was accepted by Sunderland.
Marney carried on where he left off, this time striking up a partnership up-front with fellow new-signing Reimond Van Den Bergh as their goals led the Dragons on to win the Carling Cup for the first time ever and also finish in 2nd place in the Premier League.
