Luiz Costa arrived at Harchester United for a cost £18million from Portuguese side Benfica in the summer of 2008.
On the pitch, Costa is described as a world class footballer on his day - off the pitch, he has been described as difficult to work with by those who have worked with him in the past.
At the age of 17 in 2002, Costa made his debut for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and was tipped for greatness throughout the 2002/03 and 2003/04 campaigns.
An offer of £10million was then made by Real Madrid in the summer of 2004 and Costa made it clear on television that he wanted to sign for the club. Sporting's management deamed this disrespectful to the club, especially given the low price and refused to sell.
Costa was angry and refused to ever play for Sporting again. He was later sold to Lisbon rivals Benfica for £13million and instantly became a target for trouble whenever out in public in Lisbon.
Throughout his time at Benfica, there were reports of fall outs with management, fellow players and also supporters of both Benfica and Sporting - but on the pitch, he was doing more than enough to justify his place at the club.
Harchester United's offer was instantly accepted in July 2008 and Costa's performance on the pitch has once again continued to blossom. Off the pitch though, he still continued to cause problems but it was something that manager Erik Gentner dealt with very quickly when he arrived.
Costa now knows his place in the team and what is required of him as a professional off the pitch as well as on it.
