HARCHESTER UNITED PLAYER PROFILE ...

11. PATRICE BLANC
Name: Patrice Blanc
Country: France
Position: Midfield

Signed from: AS Monaco (France) in July 2010
Debut: Newcastle United (Away), FA Premier League, 15th August 2010

Patrice Blanc signed for Harchester United from French side Monaco in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £11million.

Blanc began his career with Monaco and made his debut in October 2004 at the age of 18.

After securing himself a first team place on the left wing for the remainder of the 2004/05 season, Blanc continued in the role throughout the following campaign so well that he secured himself a place in France's 2006 World Cup squad - although he didn't actually feature in any of the French's games.

Following the World Cup, Blanc signed for Arsenal for £6million, but his time at the Emirates Stadium was a difficult one as he broke his leg in the Gunners second league game of the 2006/07 season which left him out for a year.

When Blanc recovered from his injury, he found it difficult to get back into the first team and was loaned out to his former club Monaco for the remainder of the 2007/08 season. This loan move would later become a permanent transfer for £3million.

During his second spell at Monaco, Blanc went on to show that not only had he recovered from his broken leg, he'd also excelled into a better player despite being left out of France's Euro 2008 Squad.

Blanc continued to excel for Monaco and in 2010, he helped them reach the French Cup Final in which they sadly lost out 1-0 to Paris St.Germain.

Selection for France's ill-fated 2010 World Cup campaign was next in line and Blanc featured in all 3 of the French's group matches. Blanc was France's best player in a poor tournament for the side.

Following this tournament, Blanc moved to England once again, this time he signed for Harchester United for £11million. And this time, his moved proved to be a successful one as he was part of the Dragons side to win the Carling Cup for the first time ever in 2011.

The Dragons also finished in 2nd place in the Premier League in Blanc's first year at the club.
