Signed from: Fulham in August 2006
Debut: Chelsea (Wembley), FA Community Shield, 13th August 2006 |
William-Laurent Dioup signed for Harchester United from Fulham in the summer of 2006 for £2million.
Senegal international Dioup signed for Fulham in July 2004 and had a couple of impressive seasons at the West London club which eventually caught the eye of then-Dragons boss Alex Rose.
Rose, also chairman at the time, signed Dioup for just £2million and it turned out to be a real bargain of a price as Dioup played his part in Harchester United becoming Champions in 2006/07.
Dioup suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in the summer of 2008 which left him out of action for just over 18 months.
He eventually made a return to the Dragon's Reserve team in February 2009, but Erik Gentner decided he would be better getting first team football so loaned him out to French side Nice.
Upon his return from Nice in the summer of 2009, Gentner again loaned Dioup out, this time to German club Hertha Berlin for the entire 2009/10 season.
Dioup again found himself out of favour in the 2010/11 season as he was loaned out for the entire campaign to Hull City.
After rejecting a further loan and rejecting a permanent move away from the Dragons Lair in the summer of 2011, Dioup has found himself currently playing in Harchester United's reserve team.
